Publication Frequency

1. BASIC PUBLICATION SCHEDULE

JIBER is published twice a year (biannually), with two regular issues released per volume annually. Each volume corresponds to one calendar year.

Issue Publication Period Target Publication Month
Volume X, Issue 1 June – November November
Volume X, Issue 2 December – May May

2. CONTINUOUS PUBLICATION MODEL (ONLINE FIRST)

To ensure the rapid dissemination of scholarly knowledge and to minimize publication delays, JIBER operates under a Continuous Publication Model (also known as Online First or Ahead of Print).

Under this model:

  • Immediate Online Publication: As soon as a manuscript completes the peer-review process, is accepted, and passes final copyediting and proofreading, it is published online immediately with a fully citable DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

  • No Waiting for Issue Compilation: Authors do not need to wait for the completion of a full issue to have their work accessible. This significantly reduces the time between acceptance and public availability.

  • Assignment to Issues: Although published online immediately, each article is subsequently assigned to the relevant issue (Volume X, Issue 1 or 2) based on its official acceptance date. Articles accepted between January and June are compiled into Issue 1; articles accepted between July and December are compiled into Issue 2.

3. SUBMISSION DEADLINES

To facilitate timely issue compilation and production planning, authors are encouraged to observe the following submission deadlines:

Issue Recommended Submission Deadline Final Acceptance Deadline
Issue 1 (November) September 30 October 30
Issue 2 (May) March 30 April 30

Please note:

  • Submissions received after these recommended deadlines will still be processed and, if accepted, will be published in the next scheduled issue under the Continuous Publication model. They will not be delayed unnecessarily.

  • Early submissions are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for the rigorous double-blind peer-review process.

4. NUMBER OF ARTICLES PER ISSUE

Each issue typically contains between 8 to 12 articles, depending on the number of accepted manuscripts and the overall volume of submissions. The editorial board reserves the right to publish special issues or thematic supplements outside of the regular schedule to address emerging topics of significant importance in Islamic business and economics (e.g., "Islamic Finance and Digital Transformation," or "Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery").

5. SPECIAL ISSUES / THEMATIC ISSUES

From time to time, JIBER publishes Special Issues dedicated to specific themes, in collaboration with guest editors. Special issues follow the same rigorous peer-review standards as regular issues.

  • Publication Schedule: Special issues may be published as an additional issue (supplement) within a volume or may replace a regular issue, as determined by the editorial board.

  • Call for Papers: Calls for Special Issues will be announced on the journal's official website and social media channels at least 6 months in advance.

6. VOLUME AND ISSUE NUMBERING

  • Volume Number: The volume number increments annually (e.g., Volume 1 for the first year of publication, Volume 2 for the second year, and so forth).

  • Issue Number: Each volume consists of two issues:

    • Issue 1: December – May

    • Issue 2: June – November

  • Citation Format: All articles must be cited using the following format:

Author(s). (Year). Title of the article. Journal of Islamic Business and Economics Research (JIBER)Volume(Issue), page numbers. DOI

7. PUBLICATION FREQUENCY REVIEW

The journal's publication frequency is reviewed annually by the editorial board to ensure it meets the growing demands of the academic community. Depending on submission volumes and the journal's growth trajectory, JIBER may transition to a quarterly (four issues per year) publication schedule in the future. Any changes to the frequency will be announced prominently on the journal's website and through official notifications.
