Publication Ethics
The Journal of Applied Computing and Digital Information (JACODI) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. To ensure fairness, transparency, and credibility in scholarly publishing, JACODI strictly adheres to the Core Practices and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publishing process—including authors, editors, and reviewers—are expected to understand and comply with these ethical standards.
1. Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts are entirely original works. All external sources, data, and ideas must be appropriately cited and referenced. Plagiarism in any form—including self-plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification—is strictly prohibited. JACODI utilizes plagiarism detection software to verify originality. Any manuscript found violating this rule will be immediately rejected or retracted in accordance with COPE flowcharts.
2. Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made significant, direct contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. JACODI strongly discourages "ghost," "guest," or "gift" authorship. All listed authors must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission. Other individuals who assisted in the research but do not meet authorship criteria should be explicitly recognized in the Acknowledgments section.
3. Conflicts of Interest
Transparency is mandatory. Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest (financial, personal, institutional, or professional) that might be construed to influence the results, interpretation, or evaluation of the manuscript. Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
4. Data Integrity and Reproducibility
Authors must present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable. Raw data, source codes, and detailed methodologies should be made available upon reasonable request by the editors or reviewers to ensure the reproducibility of the research.
5. Peer Review Process
JACODI enforces a rigorous and objective peer-review process to maintain the quality of its published research. Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts based solely on their intellectual content and academic merit, without personal bias. The peer-review process is strictly confidential; reviewers must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research without the explicit written consent of the authors.
6. Editorial Independence and Duties
The Editorial Board has complete independence and authority to accept, reject, or request modifications to a manuscript. Editors evaluate submissions objectively, without any influence from the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or institutional affiliation. Decisions are based solely on the manuscript’s importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope.
7. Publication Misconduct and Ethical Violations
JACODI takes all allegations of publication misconduct seriously. If any ethical concerns, complaints, or allegations of misconduct are raised regarding a submitted manuscript or a published article, the editorial board will promptly investigate the issue following the COPE flowcharts. The journal reserves the right to contact the authors' institutions or funding agencies if severe ethical breaches are suspected.
8. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
In the event that significant errors or inaccuracies are discovered after publication, authors are obligated to promptly notify the journal's editor to either retract or correct the paper. In cases of proven misconduct or major errors, JACODI will strictly follow the COPE Retraction Guidelines to issue corrections (errata), retractions, or expressions of concern to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
9. Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain the copyright to their work while granting JACODI the right of first publication. Articles are published and distributed under an Open Access framework via a Creative Commons license, ensuring that the research is freely available to the public. Proper attribution and citation are required when reusing or redistributing published content.
10. Continual Improvement
JACODI is dedicated to continually reviewing and improving its publication practices and ethical standards. We welcome feedback from authors, reviewers, and readers to enhance the quality, transparency, and reliability of the journal, ensuring our operations consistently align with best practices in global academic publishing.
By adhering to these publication ethics guidelines, JACODI aims to foster a culture of integrity, trust, and excellence in academic publishing, ensuring that the research published in the journal contributes positively to the advancement of knowledge and society.
